Ushers

“For a day in Your courts is better than a thousand.  I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God Than dwell in the tents of wickedness.” PSALM 84:10

The purpose of the Ministry is to usher at worship services, special services, programs, and other capacities as designated by the Pastor.  Ushers greet the people with a pleasant smile, a warm welcome, and directs them to comfortable seats.  They must see to it that perfect order is kept in and around the Church at all times during the services.  It is their duty to see that hymn books, fans, church literature, collection envelopes, and any other things that are to be distributed to the congregation are in their proper places.  The ushers are also charged with passing the collection plates for the church offering.

To join our usher ministry, an individual must be a member in good standing with Second Baptist Church.  Church ushers are doorkeepers in the house of God, so they must be pleasant, inviting and on their best conduct at all times.  A good usher is dependable, punctual, properly dressed, inconspicuous, and readily available to serve.  Experience as usher would be helpful for new members, but is not required because we have training for our members.  Anyone interested in joining the usher ministry may contact an usher or otherwise let it be known that they are interested and we will invite them to our meeting.

Meeting time:  third Saturday each month at 12:00 PM.
