Rev. Blackmon accepted the call to Ministry with the Metropolitan Baptist Church, Kansas City, Kansas under the leadership of Dr. R. L. Raynham. She served as the minister of Pastoral Care and Counseling, and the Director of the Woman to Woman Ministry. Rev. Blackmon also served as a Substance Abuse Counselor with a faith based Substance Treatment facility; and as a part- time instructor for Western Baptist Bible College in the Counseling and Psychology Department.
Rev. Blackmon is ordained with the First Baptist Church of Lincoln, Nebraska; an American Baptist Church affiliate. She is endorsed by the American Baptist Churches as a Hospital Chaplain. Rev. Blackmon completed her Clinical Pastoral Education Training with the St. Luke’s Hospital of Kansas City, Missouri where she served as a Chaplain Intern and Chaplain Resident for the Spiritual Care Department. Rev. Blackmon is Board Certified with the American Association of Professional Chaplains.
Chaplain Blackmon served as a member of the Pastoral Staff at Bryan LGH Medical Center in Lincoln, Nebraska (2008 – 2012). In this position she serviced the Inpatient Rehabilitation Units, Inpatient and Outpatient mental health unit and served as the hospital trauma rotation with six other hospital chaplains. She is currently employed with the Spiritual Wellness Department at Truman Medical Center, Kansas City, Missouri where she was recently assigned as Chaplain for the Palliative Care Team.
Rev. Blackmon has been a part of Second Baptist since September 2012. She serves as part of the pastoral ministry team, is Co-Chair of the Health Ministry , serves as Chair of the Discipleship ministry and is part of the Intercessory prayer team.
